An Admiral Fitzroy Polytechnic barometer. A fine example with enamel dials with vernier adjusters to each side. A thermometer, storm tube and instructions visible through the case glass. A well carved mahogany case with the original top wooden finials. Signed to the enamel barometer scale 'Maple & Co, London as retailers'. The main circular dial is marked 'Improved Torricelli Barometer'. Circa 1895
I have never seen such a high quality example of a Royal Polytechnic barometer. They are usually oak cased and paper/silver dials, this is mahogany and enamel dials.
