A small proportioned English 'Library' mantel clock. A single fusee timepiece mechanism of 8-day duration. A top micrometer regulation to the pendulum and a locking nut for transit. A 3 3/4" square, silvered and engraved dial with an outer minute track and Roman hour numerals. The centre being signed "FRA CORRELL, LUTTERWORTH". The matching blued steel hands have spear shaped ends. Contained in a satinwood '5-glass' case of lovely colour, the stepped top having a thick bevelled viewing rectangular glass with conforming panels to the sides. The locking front door is glazed as is also the locking rear door. Above the front door and on 3 sides is a small Cavetto moulding with a thin rippled moulding. Circa 1840.

Francis Correll of Lutterworth is recorded in Loomes' ' Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World' book as working until 1850.
