A Victorian fusee dial wall clock. A 12" painted dial signed 'J H ALLIS 10, WINE STREET BRISTOL' with blued steel hands. A mahogany case case of good colour with a brass bezel surround. An 8-day duration fusee timepiece mechanism. Circa 1880.
The Allis family of clockmakers are Bristol is recorded in A J Moores' 'The Clockmakers of Bristol' book as working from 1817 to 1899. They worked in Small Street and Wine Street.Height/Width 14 1/2" / 37cms Depth 6 " / 16 cms.
