An English Georgian twin fusee bracket clock. A very small proportioned, elegant mahogany case with an arched pediment and brass handle. Brass sound fretted side panels with silk backing. A cast brass bezel with convex glass and standing on brass ogee bracket feet. Boxwood string inlays to the case with choice flame mahogany veneers. An arched glass back door. A convex dial with blued steel hands signed 'Barraud London'. A beautifully engraved mechanism backplate and pendulum. A quality double fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell of 8-day duration. Circa 1810.
The Barraud family are noted clockmakers in Baillies' Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book and worked in the 18th and 19th centuries. This clock is of unusually small proportions.
