 A quality Georgian bracket clock by Ellicott of London. Choice flame mahogany veneers of good colour to the well proportioned case. A stepped chamfered top with cast pineapple finial and 4 side finials. Side sound brass fretwork with silk backing and side handles. Inset brass decorations to the case front. A twin fusee, mechanism striking the hours on a bell. An engraved back plate border and pendulum. Pull repeat cord. Brass bun feet. A convex painted dial with blued steel hands signed 'Ellicott Royal Exchange London' with a cast brass bezel surround and convex glass. A strike/silent lever above X11 position. Circa 1825



The Ellicott family are noted clockmakers and are recorded in Baillies' ' Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World' book as working in the 18th and 19th centuries. Edward was clockmaker to the King and various examples can be seen in museum's.
