A Georgian period moon phases longcase/Grandfather clock. A well proportioned mahogany case with an arched hood pediment with dentil cornice mouldings below. Fluted hood columns with brass capitals. Rear hood quarter columns. A well proportioned slim case. Choice flame mahogany case veneers with boxwood line inlays and central marquetry ovals. Fluted trunk sides. An attractive, early example of an arched painted dial with raised gilt corners and a seconds dials with blued steel hands. A rarer feature of central days of the month shown with a brass hand pointer. Lunar moon phases to the arch. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Circa 1790.
