An impressive and elegant Georgian mahogany longcase clock. A fine quality case with a swan-neck pediment in the distinctive Bath and Bristol style. A mahogany case with brass capped hood columns and side glass hood apertures. An original central brass finial. A wavy hood door top and matching raised plinth panel. A very well engraved silvered dial with blued steel hands. A seconds dial, date aperture and lunar moon phases showing high water at Bristol quay. Signed to the dial 'Thos Wynn, Bristol'. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Circa 1775.
Thomas Wynn of Bristol is recorded in A J Moores 'The Clockmakers of Bristol' book as working from 1763. He was married in 1763 in Almondsbury. Three Bristol high water clocks are noted in the book
