An interesting drop dial fusee wall clock. A golden oak case with a cast brass bezel surround. A 12" painted dial with blued steel hands signed 'Jno Jones 338, Strand London with British military mark. A high quality 8-day duration fusee mechanism with dead beat escapement and brass fixing strut across the top of the mechanism. As it has a military mark and it is presumed the higher quality mechanism was required for precision timekeeping. It dates to the 1890's to 1915 period and may have been marked with the military mark for WW1.

John Jones of London worked in the 19th century and his son, John Jones Junior was vice president of the British Horological Institute. They were described as a major manufacturer of clocks and watches. This also has a brass plaque to the side for James Murray, chronometer and clockmaker.
